Diana’s former butler has admitted he is “very upset” about the release of bombshell tapes that will shed a new light on the late Princess’ life.
A new documentary is set to feature never-before-heard tapes of the late Princess of Wales exploring her mental health troubles and her rocky marriage with the then Prince Charles, now King Charles III.
In a clip released by Good Morning America, Diana is heard reflecting on how the birth of Prince Harry affected her then-husband.
Paul Burrell, who worked as a servant of the British Royal Household before going onto become a butler to the late Princess, claims the late Princess did not want her “thoughts and feelings to be aired”.

“It’s very upsetting to hear the Princess’ voice”, he told Dan Wootton on GB News.
“Those tapes were made originally not to published or aired. She didn’t want her thoughts and feelings to be aired.

“I find it very upsetting and Prince William must find it very upsetting. The fact that his mother’s voice is coming from beyond the grave is too much for me.
“These tapes were stored in my loft. She gave them to me for safekeeping and I told the Queen.
“But while they were in my home, they were in the public domain.”
The tapes were recorded in the 1980s to be given to Andrew Morton, who used the recordings to write her biography.
In one of the recordings, Charles can reportedly be heard saying after the birth of Harry: “Oh God. It’s a boy, and he even has red hair!”
In one of the recordings, Diana can be heard speaking on Charles’ “disappointment” at Harry’s birth, having been hopeful of a daughter.
“Charles went up to [my stepmother Raine Spencer] and said, ‘you know, we were so disappointed. We thought it would be a girl’.
“Mummy snapped his head off”, she recalled.
“And she said, ‘you should realise how lucky you are to have a child that’s normal’.
“Ever since that day, the shutters have come down. That’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him.”
The documentary is set for release next year, but small parts of it were made available just a day after the 26th anniversary of her death.
The snippets were released at a particularly sensitive time for the King, just a week ahead of the anniversary of the late Queen’s death.
