The royal announced his daughter's arrival in February

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, husband of Princess Beatrice, has shown his support for Prince Mateen of Brunei following the arrival of the royal's first child.

The Bruneian prince posted an image on Instagram on Thursday depicting himself dressed in military attire whilst cradling his infant daughter, Princess Zahra, wrapped in a pink blanket.

The photograph, shared without a caption, attracted numerous well-wishes from followers.

Among those responding was Mr Mapelli Mozzi, who left a simple red heart emoji beneath the post.

The property developer, himself a father of three, has previously engaged with the 34-year-old prince on social media.

When Mateen initially revealed the birth of his daughter alongside his wife, Princess Anisha, Mr Mapelli Mozzi offered his congratulations directly on the post.

"Congratulations Mateen and Anisha. Zahra ❤️," he wrote at the time.

The Bruneian royal announced his daughter's arrival in February, later sharing her full name as Zahra Mariam Bolkiah on February 11.

In his announcement, Mateen expressed gratitude to the medical staff at JPMC for their care during the birth, whilst also thanking supporters for their kind messages.

The exchange demonstrates an ongoing connection between the two fathers through social media interactions.

Mr Mapelli Mozzi and Princess Beatrice tied the knot during an intimate wedding ceremony in Windsor in 2020.

The couple, who are ninth in line to the throne through Beatrice's position as granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, have since welcomed two daughters together.

Their eldest, Sienna Elizabeth, was born in September 2021, followed by Athena Elizabeth Rose in January this year.

Beatrice, 37, also serves as stepmother to Christopher, known as Wolfie, from Mr Mapelli Mozzi's previous relationship with Dara Huang.

The princess has spoken warmly of her role, describing it as a "great honour" during a 2021 interview with The London Standard.

Prince Mateen, the 34-year-old son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his former wife Mariam binti Abdul Aziz, currently holds fifth position in Brunei's line of succession.

Princess Zahra was born on February 8 at 8.50am, with the news first confirmed by Bruneian state broadcaster RTB News.

The royal birth was celebrated with a traditional ceremony, including 17 cannon shots fired at the grounds of Istana Nurul Iman palace.

However, under Brunei's constitution, the newborn princess will not enter the line of succession, as only Islamic males are eligible for the throne.
