The Princess Royal topped the list of hardest-working royals for 2023

Princess Anne has beaten King Charles as the hardest-working royal for 2023, carrying out a massive 457 engagements.

The Princess Royal completed 32 more engagements than her older brother, who only completed 425.


Prince Edward, 59, came in third place behind his two older siblings with just 297 engagements.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla, 76, finished in fourth place with 233 engagements.

This analysis of public events and official meetings was recorded by The Telegraph.

They included ceremonies like King Charles's Coronation and royal tours abroad to France and Germany.

Princess Anne and the King had to increase their workload in 2023 due to the death of their mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2022.

Prince William and Princess Kate, on the other hand, only completed 172 and 128 engagements respectively.

This meant that the majority of day-to-day public engagements were carried out by royals in their retirement age.

For instance, the Duke of Gloucester, 79, completed 172 engagements - which was 44 more than Kate.

During his trip to Singapore last month, the Prince of Wales explained that he wishes to focus more on specific causes, rather than carry out numerous duties concerning lots of different issues.

He said: “I care about so many things and previously the family have been very much spotlighting brilliantly and going round and highlighting lots – I want to go a step further.

“I want to actually bring change and I want to bring people to the table who can do the change if I can’t do it.”

William added: “I think the thing that ties it all together for me is about social leadership.
