EXCLUSIVE: CUSTOMER "FLABBERGASTED" BY PRINCE WILLIAM'S SURPRISE PHONE CALL

An unsuspecting customer was "flabbergasted" when she found out it was Prince William who took her pasty order on Thursday.

In one of the most bizarre phone calls of her life, Josie Trounson was unaware she was speaking to the future King as she placed an order with the Gear Farm Pasty Company in Helston, Cornwall, on Thursday.

Prince William was visiting to assist the farm shop on the busiest day of the year, St Piran's Day, making pasties in the kitchen and showing support for a community impacted by the recent Storm Goretti.

While inside, the phone rang and William, known as the Duke of Cornwall in the county, answered it.

I caught up with Josie about her experience in an exclusive interview for GB News Originals. You can watch the video here.

Josie is a regular customer. She told me: "I've had a long association with Gear Farm ever since they've been making pasties. I'm quite a connoisseur as far as food is concerned, and I love really good Cornish pasties. And their pasties are just superb. They really are. And I regularly order them and go and collect them because I get very disappointed, which happened once when I went over there and there were none."

Prince William misheard her name, addressing her as Juicy - which caused staff to erupt into laughter.

Josie said: "I just said, it's not Juicy, it's Josie. And then we laughed about the pastis being very juicy and that sort of broke the ice."

"There was lots of laughter and there was lots of noise, which there isn't usually. Well, there's usually a little bit of residual noise, but there was a lot more than normal."

Still not realising she had spoken to Prince William, she turned up on Thursday afternoon to collect her order after His Royal Highness had departed.

She told me: "I just said I've come to collect my pasties, and I said it's Josie. Then I made the comment that somebody did think my name was Juicy...And they just said, did you know who took your order? I said, well, a gentleman, but I don't know who it was. And they said would you be surprised to hear that it was Prince William? I was flabbergasted. I said, who?"

"It was just a bit crazy, really. And then I didn't have to pay for the pasties. I was, given them complimentary, which was very, very exciting. And yes, it was just amazing, really."

"I have a son that lives in Australia, and it's on the Australian news!"

"Everybody's [family and friends] have just been laughing their heads off. It's just caused great hilarity. And I just think that, you know, it's just amazing how something so small can have such a ripple."

"The smell [of the pasties] is absolutely divine, and you're starting to salivate as soon as you smell them. And we ate half each in the car before we left, and the others have gone in the freezer. It's Mother's Day next weekend, and one of our children are coming down and our children all love pasties, so we have to have plenty at the ready."

Helston and the surrounding villages were hit hard by Storm Goretti in January.

Roads were blocked by trees, one person died, and 50,000 homes lost power.

Josie said: "We've had quite a rough time recently with the weather. I mean, it's rained and rained and rained and the storm has been horrendous. And sadly, in the next village to Gear Farm, somebody in a caravan was killed because a tree fell on the caravan. So it's been a tough time for a lot of people. Trees falling down. Roads closed. Damage to things. So yes, it's been wonderful and I think the emergency services have been very busy. And I think [Prince William] went to see the fire service in Helston and took them pasties"

The Prince of Wales is understood to have taken some pasties back to Forest Lodge for his wife and children to enjoy.

ROYAL CHILDREN'S FAVOURED SWEET TREAT REVEALED BY PRINCESS OF WALES

The Princess of Wales has revealed her children would "love" a coconut-based sweet snack during a visit to an Indian restaurant in Leicester on Thursday.

Catherine was trying traditional sweet and savoury snacks at Bobby's, run by married couple Dharmesh and Enna Lakhani, on Leicester's famous Golden Mile - a road famous for its high concentration of British Indian businesses.

When invited to select some sweet treats from a display to take home with her, Catherine revealed Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis would "love" an item that caught her eye.

"I think I'll take one that's coconut based," she said. "I think my children will love that."

Confirming the children have no allergies when asked by the confectioner, the Princess also asked for a chocolate-based snack because Prince William "loves chocolate".

Earlier, Catherine tried a chutney made with green chillies, and told the restaurant owners she was "okay with spice" and that she loved coriander.

The future Queen said it was "amazing" that the business is still thriving after 50 years.

Afterwards, restaurant owner Mr Lakhani said: "It was absolutely amazing, it was an honour. We couldn’t even dream of something like this happening."

"This was blessings from above, I always say that. I feel as if somebody’s looking down on us."

"The fact that she was so interested, we kind of thought ‘wow’."

"We didn’t want to let her go, we wanted to kind of hold on to her – we even told her that, we said ‘we would keep you here all day but we can’t’."

Mrs Lakhani added: "She was so warm, so kind, so approachable as soon as she came in."

A WEEK OF ROYAL DOG CELEBRATIONS

It's been a week of dog celebrations for the Royal Family with The Princess of Wales' brother, James Middleton, spotted attending Crufts in Birmingham on Friday.

He spent time with the Medical Detection Dogs - which has Queen Camilla as patron - enthusiastically greeting the dogs at the stand.

James gifted The Prince and Princess of Wales' family pet, Orla, in 2020 - having also bred their previous dog, Lupo.

Orla, a working cocker spaniel, gave birth to a litter of puppies last year and the Prince William and Catherine is thought to have kept one as a second pet.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Edinburgh was in Northern Ireland on Tuesday and celebrated 40 years of Guide Dogs.

It was her first solo visit to the region since 2018 - undertaking a day of engagements including to the Bloomfield Walkway Community Centre.

There, she met with youth workers, volunteers, young people, and a number of guide fogs.

In a sweet moment, she pet a puppy in training called Luna, and heard about her progress towards becoming a companion for somebody in need.

The six-month-old dog excitedly greeted her, wagging her tail and jumping up, making the Duchess laugh.

Sophie told her: "you're not meant to jump up."

Luna is expected to undertake advanced training in May, and her progress is understood to be going "really well."
