Prince Harry has written a personal letter to a group of veterans who accomplished an extraordinary feat, travelling from London to Mount Everest and back in just seven days.

The Duke of Sussex praised the team's remarkable achievement in a message to Kevin Godlington, one of the ex-Special Forces soldiers who participated in the challenge, who shared a picture of the letter on Instagram.

The record-breaking expedition aimed to raise funds for military charities, including Scotty's Little Soldiers, which supports bereaved military children. Prince Harry serves as global ambassador for the organisation, making the team's accomplishment particularly meaningful to him.

The team consisted of Veterans Minister Al Carns, a former colonel in the Royal Marines, alongside ex-Special Forces soldiers Kevin Godlington, Garth Miller and Anthony "Staz" Stazicker.

Their journey took them from the capital to the world's highest peak and back within a week.

Prince Harry handwrote the team’s names at the top of the letter, which was dated May 30, 2025 and followed by a typed message.

The Duke said: "Wow - what a remarkable accomplishment. What you have done is nothing short of extraordinary."

Harry emphasised the exceptional nature of their achievement, stating: "Reaching the top of the world is an immense physical and mental challenge in its own right, but doing it with purpose to honour and support military families elevates this feat to another level entirely. I take my hat off to you all."

He expressed deep gratitude for their efforts: "You've pushed the boundaries of human endurance while shining a light on a cause that is deeply important to me, the well-being of our service families, especially children and young people who've experienced loss. For that, I am hugely grateful.

"You've not only conquered Everest, you've brought attention to the sacrifices of our Armed Forces in a way few others could."

Harry added a personal touch with a handwritten sign-off, writing: "Well done lads. All the best. Harry." The letter concluded with his printed title: "Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex."

Godlington, who received the Duke's letter, also serves as a trustee for Scotty's Little Soldiers. The group's challenge aimed to raise funds for multiple organisations supporting military families.

Prince Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan during his decade-long Army career, expressed particular admiration for the team's dedication to honouring service families through their endeavour.

Scotty's Little Soldiers was established in 2010 by Nikki Scott following the death of her husband Lee "Scotty" Scott, who was killed whilst serving with the Royal Tank Regiment in Afghanistan in 2009.

She founded the charity after witnessing the positive impact a holiday had on her young son Kai.

The organisation aims to support more than 1,000 bereaved children and young people by 2030.
