Meghan Markle will be honoured at a Los Angeles gala on June 14, the same evening as Trooping the Colour takes place in London.

The Duchess of Sussex is set to receive recognition at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County's Night of Wonder gala.

The timing creates a striking contrast, with Meghan appearing at the garden-themed event in California whilst the Royal Family gathers for the King's official birthday celebrations in central London.

Trooping the Colour, the traditional military parade marking the British Sovereign's official birthday, will see senior royals unite at Buckingham Palace on the same date.

King Charles, the Princess of Wales and Prince William are expected to unite for Trooping the Colour on the same day as Meghan's outing.

The parade will begin at Buckingham Palace, proceeding along The Mall before returning to the Palace.

The celebration will conclude with members of the Royal Family watching an RAF fly-past from the palace balcony.

Whilst attendance remains unconfirmed, the King is likely to be joined by Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.

Kate made her first return to the spotlight at Trooping the Colour last year.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and Sir Tim Laurence are also expected to attend.

The Los Angeles museum will honour Meghan for her work supporting women and underserved communities at the garden-inspired evening at its Exposition Park location.

"We are proud to honor Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, a native Angeleno, whose work to advance community wellbeing and expand opportunity aligns with our equity-focused approach," Lori Bettison-Varga, the President and Director of the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, said.

The duchess will deliver remarks at the event, which organisers say will evoke an enchanted garden at night.

The evening will feature immersive exhibits, live music, and dinner served in the museum's North Garden, with guests expected from across Los Angeles's cultural and philanthropic communities.

The 43-year-old duchess has been increasingly visible at Los Angeles events since relocating to California in 2020 with Prince Harry and their two children.

She recently launched her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, and her As Ever lifestyle brand, which sold out its first products in under an hour.

The duchess has also returned to Instagram, sharing glimpses of her California life. The simultaneous events on June 14 highlight the separate paths taken by the Sussexes and the Royal Family, with Meghan building her presence in Los Angeles whilst the royals maintain traditional ceremonies in London.
