Prince Harry will be returning to the UK next week
Kriss Akabusi has called for Prince Harry to be applauded for the success of the Invictus Games as its tenth anniversary is celebrated, saying “he’s not a beast”.
He GB News: “I wanted to have a positive spin on this. I think we should celebrate his ten years of the Invictus Games, where people who've had all sorts of life changing injuries compete at the highest level.
“He was such a strong advocate at the very beginning. It wouldn't be what it is today, without his profile, his energy, his experiences as a soldier.
“When I think how we’ve battered him, when I mean we, I mean the talking media, over the last couple of years, rightly or wrongly - I don't join in.”
In a discussion with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, he continued: “Can we just focus on him and the Invictus Games?
“He’s gone to California, Montecito, with his wife, and he and his wife decided to go and live a different life. We don't need to talk about him.
“And yeah, of course, he's going to speak to his dad. He doesn’t need a press conference to say, ‘hi guys, I spoke to my dad’.
“Did I speak to my brother? None of your business! It is none of your business. Of course, I've had a little something with my brother, ’sorry bruv, how are you?’
“He's given his condolences to his sister. Come on, he’s not a beast. But anyway, wherever he is, let's not talk about that next week.
“It's the Invictus Games. Ten years. He's the flagship of all those brave soldiers who got maimed in different places and are competing at the highest level. Check it out.”
