The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the US in 2020

Prince Harry "could be in deep s***" following the 2024 US election as Donald Trump is on the brink of becoming the Republican candidate.

The former US President took a swipe at Harry over the weekend and has been critical of the Sussexes for several years.

The Duke of Sussex's US visa records are currently at the centre of a court battle following the royal's admission that he had taken drugs in his autobiography Spare.

Conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation is fighting for Harry's immigration form to be made public but lawyers for the Biden administration have rejected these calls.

Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference near Washington DC regarding Prince Harry: "I wouldn’t protect him."

"He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me."

Trump added regarding the approach taken by the Biden admission: "I think they have been too gracious to him after what he has done."

A US-based journalist warned that the Duke of Sussex's life could be made more difficult by Trump if he becomes US President later this year.

They said: "Harry could be in deep s***".

"His life could get very unpleasant should Trump decide he wants to follow through with this."

Christi Hufford Jackson, head of the US Immigration Practice at law firm Laura Devine Immigration told the Telegraph that Trump putting Harry's visa records under a microscope would "completely unchartered territory".

Earlier this month, Prince Harry appeared to snub America by admitting that becoming a US citizen was not a high priority for him.

When asked about whether he wanted to become a US citizen Harry told Good Morning America: "I have considered it yes."

He continued: "American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind but it is certainly not something that is a high priority for me."

Harry's comments came amid The Heritage Foundation's ongoing legal battle regarding the Duke of Sussex's US immigration files.

The organisation wants to see if the royal admitted to using illegal drugs before gaining a US visa.
