The Duke of Sussex's spokesperson has issued a statement rubbishing the claim

Prince Harry has categorically denied having a physical fight with his uncle, Prince Andrew, after an author made the claim in a new book about the Royal Family.

Andrew Lownie also claims in his book 'Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York' that Prince Andrew called Meghan Markle an "opportunist" and told his nephew that getting into a relationship with her was the "biggest mistake ever".

Extracts of the book featured in a story on the Daily Mail website, one of which claimed "punches were thrown over something Andrew said behind Harry’s back" and that the Duke of York was left with a bloody nose during an altercation in 2013.

However, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told GB News on Saturday evening: "I can confirm neither of those things are true.

"Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry."

The Duke of Sussex's team also confirmed that they had sent a legal letter to the Daily Mail regarding its story that included the claims in Andrew Lownie's book.

The spokesperson for the Sussexes said: "Such are the gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks made in the Daily Mail's story, I can confirm a legal letter from Prince Harry's counsel has been sent to the Mail."

Andrew Lownie also claims in his new book that a meeting between Boris Johnson, when he was the Mayor of London, and the Duke of York was a disaster.

Lownie writes that Prince Andrew invited Johnson to lunch to discuss various issues in London.

The Duke of York reportedly arrived to the meeting with a list of things he wanted to discuss with the then-Mayor of London.

These issues involved advising that Battersea Power Station should be demolished, including the listed towers, Lownie claims.

The royal author added that Andrew informed Johnson that he felt the Queen Elizabeth II Centre was too small and not fit for purpose.

Johnson reportedly responded: "Well, if it’s too small, it’s your mum’s fault."

Lownie claimed that Johnson said following the conversation: "I’m the last person to be a republican but, f**k, if I ever have to spend another lunch like that, I soon will be."

Boris Johnson was the Mayor of London between 2008 and 2016.

Just three years later, Johnson began his tenure as Prime Minister of the UK, which he held from July 2019 to September 2022.
