The First Lady chose a brand beloved by the late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Kate

Melania Trump sported an iconic British brand as she departed the US for Windsor earlier this afternoon.

President Donald Trump and the First Lady were photographed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, preparing to board Air Force One for a State Visit to the UK.


Mrs Trump, 55, wore a beautiful Burberry Kensington Heritage trench coat from the brand's spring 2020 collection.

The beige coat features Burberry's iconic checkered print on the inside, which could be seen as the President and First Lady walked towards Air Force One.

Burberry is one of Britain's most famous and widely exported brands, with the late Queen Elizabeth II being a major fan, as well as Queen Camilla and Princess Kate.

Mrs Trump's coat contains the following description: "The iconic Burberry trench coat, made in England from shower-resistant cotton gabardine.

"Inside is Burberry Check cotton, used to line our coats since the 1920s.

"Part of the Heritage Collection, the Kensington is cut to a regular fit with set-in sleeves."

Kensington Palace is also one of the most well-known royal residences, home to the Prince and Princess of Wales, among several other royals.

Mrs Trump was most likely paying homage to the British Royal Family as she prepares to greet them tomorrow at Windsor Castle.

Despite Mrs Trump's exact coat no longer being in stock, a similar version currently retails from Burberry for £1,895.

President Trump's wife additionally wore a pair of stylish £350 sunglasses from Saint Laurent and leather riding boots from Christian Dior.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are due to greet Mr and Mrs Trump tomorrow at Windsor, before the US President and First Lady are introduced to King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The six individuals will subsequently embark on a carriage procession across the estate towards the iconic castle.

On Wednesday evening, Mr and Mrs Trump will attend a State Banquet as guests of Their Majesties, which Kate and William, both 43, are also expected to attend.

The Princess of Wales and Mrs Trump will later join forces for a joint engagement on Thursday at Frogmore Gardens, before the US President and First Lady leave the UK.
