The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the US in the summer of 2020

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were "not given advance warning" of Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis, sources have claimed.

The Princess of Wales announced on Friday evening via video that she was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy for cancer.

Soon after, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued a statement sending well wishes to Kate, 42.

They said: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

It was subsequently reported that Prince Harry, 39, reached out to William personally after Kate’s cancer diagnosis, according to royal commentator Sarah-Louise Robertson.

Appearing on GB News on Saturday, Robertson said: “Harry reached out to his brother last night.

“There have been some text messages, some exchanges, and the fact that has happened shows that there could now be maybe a thawing and a bit of an olive branch between the two families.

“And I think, wouldn’t it be lovely if Harry could just make that apology?

“This is the time where you have to put all that bad blood behind you and you come together as a family.

“Catherine’s diagnosis has put everything into perspective, the silly things that they were feuding about, it seems so futile.”

However, sources told The Times that Kate’s cancer diagnosis was not shared in advance with Harry and Meghan.

A Kensington Palace spokesman told the publication: “We do not comment on private conversations.”

However, several sources claimed no such conversations took place.

It is thought Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis on television, at the same time as the public.

The Duke of Sussex flew to London in early February to see his father, King Charles, a day after he began treatment.

The father and son duo spent roughly 45 minutes at Clarence House before Harry returned to the US and the King flew to Sandringham.

The 39-year-old did not meet his brother during the trip.

Earlier this month both brothers attended an awards ceremony in London in honour of their late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

William attended the awards at the Science Museum in person, while Harry appeared via video link hours after his brother had left.
