King Charles will meet the billionaire, spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims in London, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, next month in London.

Prince Rahim, 54, who succeeded his father last year, has a fortune estimated to be worth £10billion.


The 54-year-old owns properties worldwide, having been educated in the US, and is three-quarters British by blood.

The spiritual leader of 12 million Ismaili Muslims meeting with the King, is to "thank Charles for giving him the title 'His Highness'," an admirer told the Daily Mail.

Prince Rahim's mother, Princess Salima, who changed her name from Sally Croker Pooke, while his father was the son of Joan Yarde-Buller, the eldest of the third Lord Churston's children.

The 54-year-old is the 50th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslims, who say they are direct descendants of the Prophet Muhammad.

The Ismailis are a Shia Muslim group who revere a number of Imams.

They have a worldwide population of about 15 million, including 500,000 in Pakistan, while boasting a large presence in India, Afghanisation and parts of Africa.

Prince Karim Aga Khan succeeded his grandfather as Imam of the Ismaili Muslims in 1957, aged 20.

He died surrounded by family in Lisbon, Portugal, which is the seat of the Ismaili Imamat.

During his time as the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community, the late Aga Khan played a key role in establishing a charity that operates hundreds of hospitals, educational institutions, and cultural initiatives, primarily in the developing world.

He was also known for his immense wealth. Forbes magazine estimated his fortune in 2008 at $1billion (£801million).

He was a leading owner and breeder of racehorses in the UK, France, and Ireland, breeding the famous runner Shergar.

The new Aga Khan is the eldest son of his late father and Begum Salimah, a British ex-model who converted to Islam and changed her name.

Prince Rahim is heavily involved with the series of charities and agencies his father helped spearhead.

According to the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) website, Prince Rahim has served on many of its boards, and he currently chairs its Environment and Climate Committee.

The website said: "Prince Rahim has been particularly concerned with the AKDN's drive to protect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change."

It added that he was also interested in work "addressing the needs of those living in the greatest poverty".

Prince Rahim has two sons through his marriage to former American fashion model Kendra Spears.

They divorced in February 2022, having been married since 2013.
