Princess Kate’s stay in hospital is “not minor”, despite the royal returning to her home in Windsor, according to royal commentator Michael Cole.
Kate was admitted to the London Clinic - the same private hospital where the King has undergone treatment for an enlarged prostate.
She had planned major abdominal surgery on January 16 and is now not expected to return to official duties until after Easter.
Asked about the “good news”, Cole told GB News he remains concerned about Kate’s health.

“Make no mistake, this is a serious matter”, he told Tom Harwood and Emily Carver.
“They don’t keep you in hospital that long for a minor complaint. The press office of Kensington Palace has issued no further information as to the real cause for the surgery.

“That’s right and proper. She’s entitled to her privacy. She has a husband, a mother, a daughter and a sister.
“Like any woman, she’s entitled to keep private medical information to herself.”
The exact details of the Princess’s condition have not been revealed but the Palace said previously it was not cancer-related and that Kate wished her personal medical information to remain private.
Kate was discharged earlier on Monday with the press not given an opportunity to picture the Princess, a move branded “interesting” by Cole.

“There was no departure photo call and she’s gone straight to Adelaide Cottage in the middle of Windsor Great Park to recuperate”, he said.
“That, of course, is where he chidden are. They go to school locally and she’ll want to be there.
“It’s not an ideal place for cooperation and convalescence. It’s not terrible big, in fact, there is no room inside the house for the nanny, she has to live in an outbuilding.”
Heir to the throne William, who has spent time at his wife’s bedside, has been looking after Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, with all his official duties on hold.

Kate will be under the careful watch of royal doctors and also benefit from the London Clinic’s aftercare, with dedicated physiotherapists on hand with a personalised plan and a video check-up at home with a nurse specialist on offer.
NHS advice about recovering from abdominal surgery says that, after a major operation with a large incision, it takes two to three months to be able to move around comfortably.
But this will be quicker if the procedure was keyhole surgery.
