Gary Goldsmith has paid tribute to his niece saying she’s doing “a brilliant job” as Princess of Wales.

In an exclusive interview with GBNews, Kate Middleton’s uncle told Nigel Farage: “I think she's got the best support infrastructure on the planet. And she's got the best people looking after her. I just don't understand all this stuff at the moment because it doesn't really play out.

“When I employ people or have people working for me if something's going on in their lives, I see to it that they go and sort out everything they need to do. That's what we do for people. They've been very clear and transparent that we will see her at Easter. I did actually say there wasn’t a chance in hell that Catherine would have photoshopped herself and then she said she did. They are a beautiful family and the smiles should have been the centre stage.

“I think Catherine is amazing for our country and she's doing a brilliant, brilliant job.”

Gary did however say he believes Prince Harry should give up his titles.

He said: “I don’t think you throw your family under the bus and expect to be invited round for Christmas. There's a certain amount of arrogance and naivety to this whole episode that just doesn't ring true.

“I would prefer him to be magnanimous and give it up because when he does come back, people loved Harry, he had the best job in the world. He had an opportunity to do the good of his choice. The Invictus Games is amazing. But give yourself an option to catch your breath and come back when the time is right. I'm not sure he will be a married man when he does.”

Goldsmith also revealed the real reason why he went on Celebrity Big Brother.

He said: “I went on Celebrity Big Brother to change perceptions. It was all about my daughter in truth. So my daughter didn't really tell any of her friends at university who she was related to until right at the end, when she was graduating. And I thought that it was a bit sad that she felt that way. She didn't want to be tarnished or labelled the same. And I thought when you get to that sort of 60 mark, and I'm very close to it now, why say no to anything, so I'm gonna say yes.”

Asked why he got evicted from the Big Brother house first, he said: “When it all happened they changed the format because they thought it would be great for ratings. So they created this format and to be fair, I am not a celebrity, I'm related to one. I was afforded the opportunity to be there and I think it looked very uncomfortable for me in the first few days when I looked back. But that wasn't necessarily the truth. It was just everything's down to an edit.

“The show was the best thing I’ve ever done. It was nice to have a sneak peek of what it’s like to be a celebrity without having the fallout or the attention.”

Talking about his colourful past he said: “The wheels did come off a little bit for me. It was a very unusual set of circumstances. I am far from innocent in all of the circumstances. But you know, when somebody targets you for two years, brings coke into your house and asks you to cut it and you just do it and then give it back to them. There are no pictures of me actually doing that stuff. Again. I'm far from innocent.

“I will never be the person that they portray me to be. That's a caricature, almost like a Simpsons character, being the evil one.

When I lost mum and dad, I did go off the rails but the thing is that I never lost any business. I never lost any friends and I never lost any of their companies. They went from strength to strength because all my friends circled the wagons and went out to protect it all.”
