Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has been displaying a varied and carefully chosen wardrobe during her tour of South and Central America, reflecting both official engagements and the practical demands of travel.

The Duchess, visiting the region on behalf of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, arrived in Peru on November 10 and will continue her programme in Panama and Guatemala before travelling to Belize.

Her schedule spans meetings with political leaders, cultural events and work linked to her long-standing advocacy on visual impairment.

Her most formal appearance so far came on November 14 when she was photographed at the Government Palace in Lima ahead of an engagement with Peru’s president, José Jeri.

For that meeting, she selected a refined Erdem outfit which drew keen interest among royal style observers.

She wore Erdem’s Violetta draped midi dress, a black and white floral design with subtle detailing and a soft boat neckline.

She paired it with a deep blue Moneypenny clutch by Sophie Habsburg and Jimmy Choo’s Rosalia 65 pumps.

Jewellery pieces from Asprey London, Giulia Barela and Adore Jewels completed the outfit, many of which have featured regularly throughout the tour.

Royal stylist, Gabrielle Mai, revealed to Hello: "This look from the duchess is a great example of how practical outdoor dressing can still feel considered and quietly elegant.

"The lightweight floral blouse brings softness without fuss, perfectly suited to a humid, forested setting, while slim neutral trousers keep the silhouette clean and functional."

The formal appearance in Lima contrasted with her outfits during her earlier visit to the Amazon, where Sophie joined a biodiversity nature walk led by Amazon guide Rey Mozombite.

Dressed in cargo trousers, Wellington boots and a floral blouse by Penelope Chilvers, the duchess made her way through rainforest terrain to observe plant species and wildlife.

The visit formed part of her continued focus on environmental protection, a central focus of the tour.

Before setting off into the rainforest, she toured BAP America, the river gunboat built in Liverpool in 1904.

She wore the same outfit but exchanged her Wellingtons for Toms espadrilles.

The following day, she attended a UK Peru reception at Britanico, the British Peruvian Cultural Association, opting for the Wales dress by Max Mara with an ivory blazer by Eleventy Milano and heeled espadrilles.

Her engagements also included a visit to the Divino Niño Jesus Vision Centre in Iquitos, reflecting her work as global ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

For that appearance, she chose a floaty dress by Lexy London along with her Toms shoes.

On November 11, she attended a dinner marking the first year of the Biodiverse Landscape Fund programme, wearing Beulah London’s Sienna Floral Bouquet dress.
