A video on social media that has gone viral shows the shocking moment a Danish royal guard member shoved a climate activist to the ground.
The altercation occurred when a member of the Den Kongelige Livhgarde (The Royal Life Guards) decided to take action during a New Year’s Eve party.
The video shows a royal guard pushing an activist with an orange sign to the floor with one arm.
The activist fell onto stone ground, and the guard was then applauded by the crowds of people who had come to see Queen Mary and King Frederik.

A spokesman for the Danish Royal Guards said: “We have no comment on the video in question,” when contacted.
The King and Queen hosted three New Year parties to mark the start of 2026.
The first was held for Supreme Court judges, the Royal Life Guards, and the Guard Hussar Regiment’s officer corps at Christian VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.
The second was held for mayors and regional council chairmen. The third saw the King and Queen travel to nearby Christiansborg Palace to host members of the diplomatic corps for the final party.
Mary was spotted in a midnight blue velvet top with long fitted sleeves and a Mandarin collar.

The jacket was paired with a mermaid-style skirt that just skimmed the floor; the queen accessorised her look with a pair of rounded-toe heels and a navy clutch bag.
Her choice of jewellery completed the look as she wore earrings of the Khedive of Egypt Parure, as well as the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant, King Frederik X’s Portrait Order, and the Badge of the Order of the Dannebrog.
Alongside her, King Frederik donned a uniform with his medals, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant, as well as the insignia of his other Orders.
LATEST ROYAL NEWS
The viral video was not the first time that the Danish Royal Guards have come under fire, as a television documentary last year revealed an alleged secret drug culture within the royal guards.
The Royal Guards on Drugs showcased an incident that reportedly took place in the summer of 2023, where three guards filmed themselves taking drugs off a ceremonial sword inside their barracks at Gothersgade in Copenhagen.

It is then reportedly shown that the men place “a strip of cocaine on the curved blade,” while the guard, in his underwear, “bends his head forward and sniffs the cocaine.
