In today's Daily Reflection, we contemplate the meaning of democracy and how it can fall under threat from political violence.
For almost a millenium, we have been working to develop a society ideal for everyone, taking so many interests into accounts, even those that oppose democratic progress.
"Democracy is a deeply Christian concept because it reflects the value and dignity that God places on everyone.
"But our history is littered with examples of people who wanted to take power and wealth for themselves. This is why remembering our past is so important.
"Because our freedom, our democracy, our inclusivity are all things that it cost previous generations to win."
