In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we remember an encounter with the risen Jesus in Luke 24.
"A couple of Jesus's disciples are leaving Jerusalem disappointed, heartbroken, having seen their Lord and master crucified just a few days before, Jesus comes alongside them, disguised, hidden from their sight, somehow unrecognizable, and asked them what's wrong?
"And they say, do you not know what's happened? Their heads are downcast, and yet he rebukes them and calls them foolish for not believing all that the scriptures said about how the Christ had to suffer and died to fulfil God's purposes.
"When he breaks bread with them over dinner that evening, their eyes are opened and they realise it was Jesus, and he disappears from their sight.
"And then they reflect to each other. Did not our hearts burn within us? When he walked and talked along the road with us and opened the scriptures to us? And why that encourages me is that we don't need an appearance of the risen Christ to give us excitement. Their hearts burned within them just when the scriptures were opened and explained to them.
"And it's the same for you and me. If you and I would look for the same passion, the same fire for our hearts to burn within us, then all we need to do is open up a Bible, read it, and ask Jesus to come and speak to us through his words. God bless you."
