In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we acknowledge that the Emmaus Road reminds us that we can walk with Jesus and not realise it.
"In the Gospel of Luke chapter of 24, two disciples are walking away from Jerusalem on a road to Emmaus. Their hopes have collapsed. They had believed Jesus was the one who was going to redeem Israel, but now he has been crucified.
"The one they trusted in is dead, and their hope died with him, or so they thought. And they walk away in confusion and in deep disappointment. And then Jesus comes near. Luke tells us that their eyes were kept from recognising him.
"The risen Christ walks beside them, listens to their grief, and even asks them what they are discussing. It's startling. They are pouring out their disappointment to the very one they are grieving. Notice something important here? Their inability to recognise Jesus was not because he was absent, but because their expectations were misplaced and different."
