In today's Daily Reflection, we think about the 40 days Jesus went into combat with the devil - and how he tackled the threat of temptation.
"God's children cannot attempt to manipulate God to do their bidding and intervene to avert the natural consequences of choosing to do something he did not command.
"They are to do the will of God, trusting and accepting that whatever comes their way, without presuming divine protection from suffering.
"Jesus defeated the temptation with God's word, saying: 'It is also written do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
