Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed appreciation to Donald Trump for extending an invitation and for what he described as Trump's "personal efforts" aimed at bringing the conflict to an end.
Zelensky also conveyed thanks to America's First Lady, Melania Trump, for her written communication to Vladimir Putin concerning Ukrainian children who have been taken by Russia.
During their meeting, the Ukrainian president presented Trump with correspondence from Olena Zelenska, who serves as Ukraine's first lady.
"It's not to you, it's to your wife," Zelensky informed Trump whilst handing over the letter, prompting both leaders to share a moment of laughter.
