Labour MP Josh Simons has called for continued funding for the Community Security Trust to protect Jewish communities across the UK.

He said security alone isn’t enough, warning that stronger community cohesion is also vital.

This comes as two people were killed in an attack on a Jewish synagogue this morning.

“Neighbours must share language, schools, and history to build trust,” Mr Simons said.

He added the ultimate test is whether residents could rely on each other in a crisis “we have to build a country where everyone has that confidence.”
