Biden has already requested $14billion to go towards patrolling the border

President Biden has been slammed for saying he does not have enough money to protect America’s borders against an influx of migrants.

Whilst walking to the White House, a reporter asked Biden what he was going to do about the record number of migrants crossing illegally into the country.

Biden answered: “Well, we gotta do something.”

He said that Congress needs to approve his national security proposal because it also includes money for curbing the number of migrants attempting to cross the border. “They [Republicans] ought to give me the money I need to protect the border.”

Some of Biden’s critics rejected the notion that he did not have enough money to fund immigration operations.

“Oh yeah, more money. But not to ‘protect the border’. It’s to pay for more lawyers to lie for the illegal migrants posing as asylum seekers,” Fox News contributor Miranda Devine of the New York Post wrote.

“It’s to pay for more NGOs to continue the cartel’s human trafficking work around the country. It’s to pay for more ‘humanitarian’ aid at the border, and more money wasted on ‘root cause’ boondoggles.

“Anything but secure the border. It doesn’t take more money to do that. Just the political will. He can close it tomorrow if he wants. He has enough new Biden voters now anyway.”

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville echoed Devine’s sentiment on social media: “What he’s asking for is money for more agents to process illegals and bring them into the country, not protect the border.”

“Build the wall and enforce the law!” noted the Republican Party’s official account on X.

“Yes, Biden’s ‘gotta do something’—or Congress won’t fund the government,” Utah Senator Mike Lee added.

Retired army colonel James Hutton added: “This is what President Biden does instead of actual press conferences.”

The Biden administration has requested $14billion to go towards patrolling the border, as well as contributing towards aid sent to Israel, Taiwan and Ukraine.

The money would allow for more border agents and immigration teams to be hired.

However, Republicans have been insistent on using the aid to enforce larger border changes, including stricter asylum protocols.

On January 3, House Speaker Mike Johnson led a delegation of 64 Republicans to the southern border, who are demanding tougher border restrictions.

Speaking at a news conference, Johnson said: “If President Biden wants a supplemental spending bill focused on national security, it better begin by defending America's national security.”

His comments prompted a “here here” and “that's right” from other members in attendance.

The group were slammed by White House spokesperson Andrew Bates who criticised them for blocking Biden’s request for funding.

“In fact, right now, instead of joining the Biden Administration and members of both parties in the Senate to find common ground, Speaker Johnson is continuing to block President Biden's proposed funding to hire thousands of new Border Patrol agents, hire more asylum officers and immigration judges, provide local communities hosting migrants additional grant funding, and invest in cutting edge technology that is critical to stopping deadly fentanyl from entering our country,” Bates said.
