Thomas Tuchel is set to reveal his 26-man England squad for the World Cup tomorrow, but it's already clear that some massive names won't be making the trip to North America.
The German boss has had to make some brutal calls to trim his provisional 55-player list down to the final selection.
Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Adam Wharton are all reportedly missing out on the tournament.
It's a stunning set of omissions that will leave plenty of fans scratching their heads, particularly given the quality and experience these players bring to the Three Lions setup.
Harry Maguire was the first player to go public with his exclusion, and he didn't hold back on his feelings.
The 33-year-old Manchester United defender took to social media to share his devastation, saying: "I was confident I could've played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had. I've been left shocked and gutted by the decision. I wish the players all the best."
It's a particularly bitter pill for Maguire, as this likely represents his last realistic shot at featuring in a major tournament for England.
The centre-back has only appeared twice under Tuchel, earning a call-up during the March internationals but failing to convince the boss he deserved a spot.
Thomas Tuchel has already explained that there are several defenders ahead of Harry Maguire | GETTYCole Palmer's absence comes after what's been described as a mixed campaign at Chelsea, where he's had to battle with Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers for a place behind Harry Kane.
The 25-year-old has nine Premier League goals and one assist this season, but fitness concerns have plagued his year.
Phil Foden's difficult time at Manchester City has seemingly cost him his spot too, with the attacking midfielder even losing his place in Pep Guardiola's starting lineup.
Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton is another surprise exclusion, despite establishing himself as a key figure in midfield since breaking into the top flight.
Luke Shaw's omission is also particularly surprising given his strong return to form in the second half of the season.

Adam Wharton has been left out of the England squad despite a stellar campaign
| PAThe 30-year-old left-back has racked up 37 appearances for Manchester United this campaign, chipping in with a goal and an assist along the way.
It's worth remembering that Shaw scored that memorable goal in the Euro 2021 final against Italy, so his international pedigree is beyond question.
However, while many might assume Lewis Hall might be the deputy left back, that does not appear to be the case with the Newcastle man also reportedly left out.
The World Cup features an expanded format with 48 teams divided into 12 groups of four | GETTYThe final squad will be submitted to FIFA by June 1 and officially published the following day.
