Shocking footage of thousands of migrants heading for the United States border has sparked fury.

The likes of Elon Musk have commented on the development, with the business mogul demanding more awareness


Around 7,000 people mainly from South and Central America, including thousands of children, are said to have joined the migrant caravan.

They set off on foot from southern Mexico last week as they bid to reach the US border.

On a megaphone speaker, a marcher can be heard shouting “we are not criminals”.

He added: “We are international workers. The borders are stained with red [blood].

“Cross over and they kill the working class.”

The footage has drawn reaction from the likes of Musk, who said on X, formerly known as Twitter: “The public should be made aware of this.”

The “dramatic” increase in migrants crossing the US-Mexico border has drawn concern from US President Joe Biden, according to White House national security spokesman John Kirby.

In September 2023 alone, US Border Patrol apprehended more than 200,000 migrants crossing the US-Mexico border unlawfully, according to US Homeland Security.

According to local media, those marching are mostly from Cuba, Haiti and Honduras, bit some are from as far away as Bangladesh and India.

Many said they had been waiting months for transit permits, prompting their decision to join the caravan.

The surge in immigration is a contentious topic in the US with Joe Biden under increasing pressure to stem the tide.

Republicans in the House of Representatives even said they would not approve funding for Ukraine if the issue is not addressed.

The House Speaker Mike Johnson joined a group of Republicans on a visit to the Mexican border yesterday.

They called for hard-line immigration policies in exchange for backing Biden’s emergency wartime funding request for Ukraine.
