The Home Secretary spoke to GB News during her trip to Rwanda and said she was "confident" to Government's scheme would work

Suella Braverman has hinted that the UK is close to victory in the row with the European Court of Human Rights over its Rwanda immigration plan.

The Home Secretary spoke exclusively to GB News at the end of her two-day visit to the Central African nation.

In an interview with GB News’ Home and Security Editor Mark White, Braverman said she was “confident” the Government’s package of measured would work.

She added: “We've introduced the bill. We hope that Parliament supports it so it can get through to royal assent quickly. But let me be clear, nothing is ever off the table and we have to always consider every option as the events pan out.”

Elsewhere, Braverman insisted the scheme was compassionate to migrants and was the best way to stop illegal immigration to the UK.

She explained: “Our illegal migration bill will make clear that if you arrive in the UK illegally, you will be detained and you'll be swiftly removed.

“At the same time, it's humane and compassionate, and people who are relocated to Rwanda will receive a safe and secure reception. And I think those two elements - robustness with our legal processes in the UK, combined with compassion - is the way to solve this problem."
