Former London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey has given his take on calls for Nigel Farage to re-join the Conservatives as the party struggles with public opinion.
Joining Beverley Turner and Andrew Pierce on Britain’s Newsroom, Bailey began: “Look, I would say all things are, all things are possible, aren't they? I mean who would have thought Lord Cameron would be the foreign secretary at this point.
“What does he bring to that role?” Asked Bev.
“Masses and masses of charm and experience. And when you're on the international stage those two things are very important!”
“All things are possible, but I don't think while Rishi is around. There's a challenge for Farage, he would have to demonstrate a slightly broader appeal.
“Most people watching this now love Nigel. We all do. But the point is he'd have to appeal beyond and that that that immediate group of people and and I believe that's possible but Rishi is the Prime Minister now. He is the man with his hands on the tiller and he has an opportunity to appeal to those people before Farage is even back in the game.
“The issue would be, he'd need to develop an additional set of skills very quickly. He'd also have to deal with a press that would be largely ranged against him, and he'd have to demonstrate to people who are not on his side that actually he is on their side.”
