Sir Sadiq Khan has been accused of "embarrassing" Britain following his attack on Donald Trump.
Speaking to GB News, Conservative MP Julia Lopez hit out at the Mayor of London, saying he is guilty of "student politics" after he accused the US President of "fanning the flames of divisive, far-right politics".
Writing in The Guardian, Sir Sadiq said: "President Donald Trump and his coterie have perhaps done the most to fan the flames of divisive, far-right politics around the world in recent years.
"When he came to the UK on his first state visit, I highlighted how the president had deliberately used xenophobia, racism and ‘otherness’ as an electoral tactic, introducing a travel ban on a number of Muslim-majority countries and praising white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia. Six years later, the tactics we see from today’s White House seem no different."

Reacting to the comments made by the Mayor, Mrs Lopez fumed: "Sadiq Khan is a ultimately a student politician. He has had a long serious relationship of animosity towards President Trump, and he is there trying to create embarrassment for our capital city at a time when an important UK ally is visiting.
"And I think you have to view this all in the context of the internal machinations of the Labour Party. There is a deputy leadership contest going on at the moment, but also a lot of questions about whether Keir Starmer can survive some of his terrible decisions over the past year."
She added: "Sadiq Khan is effectively jostling for position as Labour politicians try and curry favour with their left-wing.
"And Sadiq Khan is sort of always provides a masterclass in that kind of student politics and that kind of jostling, whether that's actually to the benefit of our wonderful capital city and the American tourists, the American investors that we want to get here is another question, but I don't think that's ever been one of his prime concerns."

| PAHighlighting the comments also made by Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey about President Trump, the Tory MP stated that the way they are behaving is "not serious politics".
She told GB News: "I just don't think this is serious politics, and this is what the Labour Party has found sometimes for their cost, what you say in opposition matters.
"We had President Trump being greeted last night at Stansted Airport by Yvette Cooper, who now finds herself as the Foreign Secretary, having said that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy. These were silly comments in the first place, and they are undermining an important relationship."
Criticising Sir Ed further, Mrs Lopez stated: "And Ed Davey can afford to make these silly comments because ultimately, he's likely never to be anywhere close to power."

Stressing the importance of the UK's relationship with the US, Mrs Lopez concluded that a cooperation with America is "favourable" over other world allies.
She said: "I think it's important that people speak rationally and sensibly and recognise that to the UK, the United States is incredibly important partner.
"We need to have that cooperation in defence, security in the economy and that certainly a partnership with the US is preferable to many of the other options on the table.
"We want to have that partnership with US tech. I suspect that it's broadly a good deal and so therefore we welcome it, but let's see what's under the bonnet."
