Christopher Hope has said that the removal of Lord Mandelson is "deeply embarrassing" for Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The GB News Political Editor said that it is "no surprise" that Lord Mandelson has been removed, after it was revealed that he had close ties with Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaking on Britain's News Channel, Christopher said: "Well, it’s absolutely no surprise that he has lost his job.
"We’re looking at a statement from the Government that says this: 'In light of additional information in emails written by Peter Mandelson, the Prime Minister has asked the Foreign Secretary to withdraw him as ambassador'."

This comes after it was revealed that Mr Mandelson has been removed from his position as Britain's ambassador to the United States following revelations about his connection to the convicted paedophile.
The Prime Minister instructed the veteran politician to step down from the diplomatic post, according to confirmation from a Foreign Office minister on Thursday morning.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
The dismissal represents a dramatic reversal for Sir Keir Starmer, who had publicly backed Lord Mandelson merely 24 hours earlier when questioned in Parliament.
The controversy centres on correspondence from 2003 in which Lord Mandelson characterised Epstein as his "best pal" in a birthday message, raising serious questions about the nature of their association.
When MPs pressed the Prime Minister about this relationship during Wednesday's Commons session, Sir Keir maintained that he retained "confidence" in the Labour grandee's appointment to the prestigious Washington posting.
Christopher Hope added: "This is a huge blow for Sir Keir Starmer and calls his political judgment into question.
"He’s been under pressure all week, especially at PMQs yesterday, where he struggled to answer questions from Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.
"The controversy stretches back to photographs that first emerged in Ghislaine Maxwell’s 'birthday book showing Mr Mandelson, some in a towelling robe, speaking to Epstein.
"Add to that the recently surfaced emails discussing Epstein’s early convictions, and the issue has now become a full-blown political headache.
"The Government says it wasn’t aware of the full nature of Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein, and these revelations are deeply embarrassing for the Prime Minister."

A series of messages have been leaked from Lord Mandelson, where he wrote to Epstein: "I think the world of you, and I feel hopeless and furious about what has happened.
"I can still barely understand it. It just could not happen in Britain. You have to be incredibly resilient, fight for early release and be philosophical about it as much as you can."
