Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has been speaking ahead of his Budget on Wednesday.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt has claimed that "countries that grow the fastest have the lowest taxes" as he hinted at "cuts" ahead of the budget meeting this week.

Speaking to GB News he said: "We believe that if you look around the world, the countries which are growing the fastest, whether it's North America or Asia, have lower taxes because that makes a more dynamic, more energetic, more entrepreneurial economy.

"So we do want to move to a lower taxed economy, but we're only going to do so in a way that is responsible and recognizes that there are things that taxes pay for that we couldn't cut taxes by borrowing.

"We'll do so in a responsible way, but if we can spend money on public services more efficiently then that will mean less pressure on taxpayers."
