An MP has said he does believe there are “no-go” areas in the UK, particularly for members of the Jewish community.

Jonathan Gullis, MP for Stoke-on-Trent North, claimed police allowed protestors into a private fundraising event, who then accused attendees of genocide, and told organisers that these events “must be shut down’.

He told GB News: “We were hosting a fundraiser for our Police and Crime Commissioner who was in the building at that time, and we suddenly see these protests taking place.

“There was a hate mob spewing hatred and trying to intimidate and harass. The great concern is about the officer in question who allowed the people into the building, because one of the organisers…had been, up until 2015, a member of the now proscribed terrorist group Hizb ut-Tahrir.

“He may well be still, we don't know, but he was certainly active in 2009 to 2015 on social media.

“That's literally people's lives in danger, to be perfectly frank, and to go and scream at members, one of those members had his 11-year-old daughter there.

“His 11-year-old daughter has been called a child murderer, that she's pro-genocide, to the point where she's so scared and upset that she's now fearful of going to any such event again.

“To have the police tell us it's our events that must shut down, that MPs like Aaron Bell who was due to attend should not now go, because the hate mob got what they wanted, is disgusting. And that is, therefore, a no-go zone.

“Because even though we were in a private venue, in a private function room that we'd booked well in advance, it was us who had to capitulate to the mob when the mob themselves were on private property and could have easily been arrested for disrupting the peace or for causing intimidation, harassment.

“It’s weak policing that's allowed that to happen.

“I think we’ve heard more than enough [pro-Palestine protests] and we’re now wasting £25 million of taxpayers money and dragging police officers down from Stoke on Trent.

“First of all, let me be clear. If you're Jewish and you've been on TfL, we've got tube drivers who have been chanting ‘from the river to the sea.’ We've got bus drivers who have refused to pick up Jewish students.

“These are all things that Michael Ellis MP has put on the floor of the house as a matter of fact, and they’ve not been disputed.

“That we've also got people projecting ‘from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ on the Elizabeth Tower with again, the police standing by and doing nothing about that.

“That proves the point that if you're Jewish in this country, your capital city is too unsafe for you to go.”
