Broadcaster and journalist, Carole Malone, hit out at Grant Shapps’ latest role under Rishi Sunak as he replaced Ben Wallace as Defence Secretary, following his resignation this morning.
Speaking on Britain’s Newsroom, Malone joined Daily Express’ Political Editor Sam Lister and hosts Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce to discuss the Prime Minister’s fifth Cabinet role for Shapps.
Carole said: “To me he’s witless - you say he’s quite tough, I say he’s 'Mr bum on the fence guy’ isn’t he.
“He never comes out and says anything radical or important. People don’t want safe pairs of hands, they want someone who’s going to affect change, and Grant Shapps never will.
“Especially if he’s a mate of Sunak’s - he’s not going to do anything against the Government, he’s not going to distinguish himself - I think he’s a wet!”
