This is the moment a giant mushroom cloud erupted over a railway station in Russia in the aftermath of a fiery blast.
Eyewitnesses in the area captured the dramatic fireball near the Kochetovka-2 railway station, before posting the incredible footage on social media.
Russia’s Ministry of Emergencies told the Tass state news agency that a number of train tank cars had caught fire on Wednesday.
It confirmed that several firefighting trains had been sent to the area to tackle the blaze.
The video’s location was verified by matching a pedestrian overpass, nearby structures and surrounding buildings with file and satellite imagery of Tambov railway station, while the date was confirmed using corroborating visuals and official media reports.
Russia’s railway operator said fuel-carrying freight cars derailed and caught fire, disrupting passenger services, according to the state-run RIA news agency.
The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office said on Telegram that an investigation into the incident had been launched.
