Political commentator Allister Heath has delivered a withering verdict on Europe and its future, telling GB News its “pygmy” leaders like Sir Keir Starmer are bringing about a managed decline.
He was scathing in his interview with Martin Daubney, but said there might be one way out of the “hole” European leaders have dug.

Mr Heath explained: “We’re a very rich continent, but we are a continent in complete decline. I’m talking about France, Britain, Germany, Spain, I’m talking about Western Europe.
“It’s just really pathetic. Three-and-a-half years after the start of the Ukraine war, for example, we still haven’t even begun to rearm ourselves. We’ve done nothing to rearm our economies.
“Our culture is in decline. Our crime is elevated. Our education system is also in decline. Things are all going very, very wrong.”
Martin pointed to US President Donald Trump’s speech to United Nations delegates in New York yesterday, in which he attacked world leaders for supposedly failing to support America in its peacekeeping efforts.

He also hit out at European leaders for what he called “the unmitigated immigration disaster”.
Mr Heath said President Trump was”broadly right” in his “shocking message”.

“There were a lot of European leaders in the audience and they were all just stunned”, he said.
“They had to listen to this because in their heart of hearts, they must have known that it is true. Europe is a great civilisation, but it’s a civilisation in decline.
“Our leadership class is just not the right category of people to actually try and reverse all of these problems. They’re simply not doing anything about it.
“We’re about to be eaten alive by AI (Artificial Intelligence). America has the greatest tech companies in the world, the greatest banks in the world, what do we have?

“We are falling behind in virtually every area of industrial production, of services, of technology, of science, even of higher education.”
“We are a continent mired in decline.”
He said there might be one way to save Europe from its decline, and that is bringing about a complete overhaul in the political establishment.
"It's a very tricky way out of this hole. It's to hope. Britain needs a new political class, Germany needs a new political class. France needs a new political class", he explained.
"New people, new ideas."
In his speech, President Trump attacked what he thinks is a declining Europe in a cultural sense, saying uncontrolled immigration is threatening the continent’s Judeo-Christian heritage.
Mr Trump’s speech, lasting nearly sixty minutes, had bold claims about his administration's achievements, marking a significant departure from typical diplomatic discourse at the international forum.
During the assembly, Mr Trump issued a warning to Russia, stating he would impose "a very strong round of powerful tariffs" unless President Putin engaged in negotiations to conclude the Ukraine conflict.
He expressed surprise at his inability to broker a peace agreement, having previously insisted he could resolve the situation swiftly.
The President reiterated his claim of ending “seven unendable wars including India and Pakistan," though he provided no specifics about how these conflicts were resolved.
He also demanded Hamas release all captives in Gaza and disclosed details about Operation Midnight Hammer, describing American military strikes on Iranian nuclear installations.
