Wanted bus driver murder suspect charged after Notting Hill Carnival arrest

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a bus driver after officers stopped him at Notting Hill Carnival.
Kamar Williams, 33, was subject to a manhunt from the Metropolitan Police after he was wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of 53-year-old bus driver Derek Thomas in Stoke Newington on July 30.
Detectives from the Met had said that Williams could have been in Cambourne, Cornwall, but he was arrested on Monday at the Notting Hill Carnival.
Williams was charged with the Hackney murder and possession of a knife on Tuesday.

Appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, the defendant, wearing a grey tracksuit, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
District Judge John Zani passed the case to the Old Bailey, where Williams will appear on August 30.
