Rob Vigar said 'the grass is not always greener' after quitting the military
A veteran who cycled 31 miles to a job interview has told GB News why he undertook the impressive feat after his time in the Parachute Regiment.
Rob Vigar, who successfully secured the job after impressing his new bosses, revealed the difficulties he faced after leaving the forces.
Delving into his mindset that led him to undertake the heculean task, Mr Vigar said it was essential he provide for his two daughters and “not leave himself nothing.”
“I needed structure and routine to move forward in my life positively,” the veteran explained.
Mr Vigar said that this became necessary after the “big change” of leaving the forces.
“The grass is not greener, so to speak… Within eight months of leaving the Army, I had a lot of complications going on with my partner at the time.
“We later found out that she was pregnant with twin girls, and then I just wasn't providing for her the way I should have been because I was misusing drink and drugs.”
Now, the veteran said he is confident he can maintain his hard-won new job and has already been promoted to a team leader role.
