Warren Stephens told GB News that 'everyone remembers where they were on 9/11'

Today marks the anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks and the US Ambassador to the UK has shared his own memories of that day.

Warren Stephens told GB News: “Everyone remembers where they were on 9/11. I was working in financial services at the time, and I knew so many people in those towers. When the first plane hit, I simply couldn’t fathom how it had happened — never imagining it was deliberate.

"In fact, we’d been in New York the night before, on September 10. The weather was terrible, and when a neighbour rang to say a plane had struck the World Trade Center, I assumed it was the weather to blame. But when we switched on the TV, it was a clear blue-sky day. And in that moment, we realised it was something else entirely.”

Reflecting on the lessons of 9/11, the Ambassador said: “The lesson of 9/11 is simple: we must remain vigilant. There are those who hate America, hate the West, and hate our ideals. And they want to do us serious harm. We have to stay on guard, all the time.”
