'If we got all the gas in from the biggest project we're proposing, it would make no difference to our prices whatsoever here!'
Buisnessman Jeff Banks and Climate Party leader Jeff Banks clashed over the solution to Britain’s energy crisis.
Speaking on GB News, the row erupted after Mr Banks backed reopening North Sea oil and gas fields to reduce costs.
Retorting, Mr Gemmel described the approach as “utterly wrong” and suggested that green energy was the solution.
“What we haven't been doing is making the most of all of our renewable resources.”
“What's pushing up our prices is gas and all the subsidies coming through. Tax breaks that are going into the oil and gas industry at the moment,” he claimed, adding that the UK was also “beholden to these international markets”.
“We've actually got amazing resources in the North Sea of oil and gas, but at the moment, we're importing it from Norway,” Mr Banks shot back.
“Total rubbish,” the Climate Party leader returned.
“Even if we got all the gas in from the biggest project we're proposing at the moment, it would make no difference to our prices whatsoever here,” he argued.
