A beach in Honolulu, Hawaii was almost completely deserted as warnings of an expected tsunami were issued, following an earthquake in Russia's Far East.
A magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck off Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, generating a tsunami of up to four metres that prompted warnings and evacuations stretching across the Pacific Ocean.
