Mrs Kirk said her husband’s life was 'proof that freedom is not a theory, it’s a testimony'
Erika Kirk accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom on behalf of her late husband from Donald Trump.
She shared an emotional birthday message from their three-year-old daughter as she received America's highest civilian honour.
“Happy birthday, daddy… I want you to go have a birthday surprise,” she read aloud.
Mrs Kirk said her husband’s life was “proof that freedom is not a theory, it’s a testimony.”
