Kamala Harris is in the best position to dislodge Joe Biden but lacks the popularity to do so, a top pollster has claimed.

James Johnson from JL Partners joined Patrick Christys on GBN America to assess the prospect of the incumbent being dislodged as the Democrat presidential nominee.

He said the Vice President is often in the best position to carry that threat, but Kamala Harris’ dwindling popularity rates would scupper any hopes.

“At the moment, Joe Biden has a grip on the Democratic Party”, he said.

“He’s helped by one other dimension, which is Kamala Harris.

“If there’s one politician in America who is less popular than Joe Biden, it’s Joe Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris.

“It’s bad for the Democrats, but good for Biden. It means he doesn’t have an immediate opponent.”

Harris this week dodged questions on whether she would be willing to face Donald Trump’s eventual running mate.

Trump, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination, has already opened the floor to live TV debates, calling out Joe Biden just hours after his final challenger Nikki Haley suspended her campaign.

Grilled on NBC News as to whether she would be up for the challenge, Harris said: “We’ve just got through the State of the Union.

“I’m so excited about what we accomplished last night and our president.”

One possible alternative to Biden is Michelle Obama, with many calling for the ex-First Lady to pose a challenge.

But she quashed any hopes this week in a new statement.

“As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president,” said Crystal Carson, director of communications for her office.

“Mrs. Obama supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign.”

Biden, along with Trump, appears no longer to have any barriers in his path to his party nomination.
