Dara Huang has offered a rare insight into how she protects her son, Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf Mapelli Mozzi.

The mother-of-one revealed that she deliberately avoids sharing recent photographs of him online “for safety reasons”.

In addition, Ms Huang addressed an unexpected debate over his eye colour on social media.

The architect and designer shares 10-year-old Wolfie with property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

She returned to Instagram this week after a Mother’s Day post featuring her son sparked widespread discussion among followers, not about her heartfelt message, but about the colour of his eyes.

In her follow-up post, Ms Huang explained that she does not usually share up-to-date images of her son.

However, she felt compelled to address the conversation by posting a series of older photographs documenting how his eye colour has changed over the years.

“Whoa! Never thought a Mother’s Day post about my baby could spark such debate about the colour of his eyes,” she wrote.

“Since he’s 10 right now, I just wanted to follow up share some photos on how his eyes have changed throughout the years.”

Ms Huang went on to explain that, like many babies, Wolfie was born with dark grey-blue eyes.

She added that his eyes are now “a solid hazel” and likely to stay that way.

The most revealing part of Ms Huang’s post was her candid explanation of why she rarely shares new images of her son at all.

“I don’t tend to post recent photos of him just for safety reasons,” she wrote, offering a glimpse into the boundaries she maintains around Wolfie’s public profile.

The comment highlights the careful approach Ms Huang appears to take in raising her son in the public eye, particularly given his connection to the Royal Family through his father’s marriage to Princess Beatrice.

Wolfie became Beatrice’s stepson when she married Mr Mapelli Mozzi in 2020.

He has occasionally appeared at family events, including royal gatherings and public celebrations.

This safety approach is also followed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who do not allow their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four, to have their faces shown on social media.

Ms Huang’s original Mother’s Day post, shared just two days earlier, featured a throwback video of Wolfie as a baby.

In the caption, she wrote: “10 years of being able to look at these eyes. So happy to be your Mom.”

The touching tribute was part of wider US Mother’s Day celebrations across social media this weekend, with celebrities and public figures sharing family memories and rarely-seen photographs of their children.
