Americans are “frustrated” with illegal border crossings and the situation was more under control with a Trump administration, according to a polling expert.
James Johnson from JL Partners joined Patrick Christys on GBN America to look ahead at this year’s probable rematch in the US election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
The southern border migrant crisis is likely to play a key role in determining who will be calling the shots in the White House.
And Johnson believes Trump may have the upper hand in that regard, saying voters believe the situation was “better” during his years in office.

He also acknowledged that the former President was aided by the Covid pandemic, which naturally led to a reduction in border crossings.
“When we asked Republican primary voters what is the biggest issue, they say immigration”, he told Patrick Christys.

“It’s the illegal crossings across the border. It’s a sense of unfairness. People feel like they’ve paid into the system and seen veterans and homeless people, who have paid into the system, not reap the rewards of society while people crossing the border have.
“Those numbers have gone up a great deal since Biden took over and lots of people are sitting back and saying things were better on the border and better on the economy under Biden.”
Trump has been vocal on the issue and has committed to a radical plan to deport millions.
Voters know he has a “strong position” on the matter, according to Johnson, meaning he will be able to clinch votes “very effectively”.
“Americans see the border situation as being a lot worse under Biden”, he said.
“Trump was a bit lucky in that he inherited a situation that was better than the one Biden’s got.
“He obviously had the pandemic, which meant just by its very nature reduced the number of border crossings.”
It comes after a triumphant Super Tuesday for Trump where he romped to victory.
His main rival for the Republican nomination, Nikki Haley, withdrew from the race as she finally admitted defeat.
It appears to have given Trump a free run to the Republican candidacy, with a rematch against Joe Biden in the offing.
