The recycling centre in the east end of Glasgow is closed while an investigation takes place

Police have locked down a recycling centre in Scotland as they have now confirmed the body of a man has been found.

Emergency services attended the scene in the Queenslie centre in the east end of Glasgow.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.40am on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, we were made aware that the body of a man had been discovered at a recycling centre on Easter Queenslie Road, Glasgow."

A number of police vehicles and officers were pictured at the scene, including some in forensic suits, according to the Daily Record.

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: "Due to a police incident, our Queenslie household waste recycling centre is currently closed to the public.

"Residents hoping to dispose of their household waste are asked to use an alternative waste centre while this incident is ongoing.

"We will update our social media when it is appropriate to re-open the waste centre. As this is a police incident, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

Officers could be seen at the scene walking amongst the bins, with signs placed outside the tip warning motorists the site was closed.

The centre had opened at 8am this morning, meaning that it was only open for less than an hour before the body was first reported.

GB News' Tony McGuire, who was at the scene, reported that there has been a "fairly consistent" movement of police vehicles coming in and out of the site through the afternoon.

He added the police presence has died down throughout the day at the site, which is on an industrial site bordering on the M8.
