Newquay residents have shared their frustration at the Government’s decision to house migrants in the town’s Beresford Hotel.
Protesters demonstrated for a second time outside the hotel last week, with two people being arrested on suspicion of assault.
One homeless man told GB News’ Jeff Moody: “I've been on the streets 20 years and at the end of the day.
"They've been here 10 minutes or however long it took for them to get over here and then get on the register to be put into accommodation straight away with benefits and a phone and three meals a day.
“What about the people? What about the the servicemen that are out there that fought for our country? What about people that haven't got enough money to survive anymore?”
But others were sympathetic towards the asylum seekers, one woman told GB News: “If my family had to live like they have to live. I get in a boat and risk it, I really would.”
In a statement, Newquay’s MP Steve Double said: “What is deeply regrettable is that many of the people from both sides are not Newquay residents and traveled into the area in order to protest.
“I don't believe these people are reflective of the vast majority of people who live and work in Newquay. Who, in my experience, have been incredibly tolerant of the whole situation."
