The suspect in the south London chemical attack grabbed a young child from the back of a car and twice slammed her to the ground, an eyewitness has claimed.
The witness, who did not want to be identified, told GB News: “Me and my partner ran outside. As soon as we got out there we saw this guy pull this very young girl, probably about two or three, out of the back of the car and he lifted her up as high as he could and he just slammed her to the ground. He'd done that twice….
“The best way I can describe it is like just someone picking up a pillow, like this guy used all of his strength and just slammed her on to the ground. And what did it for me it was the sound of the girl hitting the ground. It was quite horrific.”
Speaking to reporter Ray Addison, he said: “It was after the second time where we were sort of just running and just tried to stop what was going on. So I ended up sort of chasing him about halfway down the road.
“I had slippers on so it was quite hard to continue running, so I ended up stopping. I had got back up to the top of the road, from across its way it happened. And my partner just said to me, ‘just go and get some water, get some water.”
“I still wasn't aware of what happened, so I just ran inside, just grabbed the water and then I saw who I believe was the mother of the child.
“She was just screaming like ‘I can’t see!’ and her eyes weren’t open. So I just opened the bottle of water and just sort of just sprayed out on the water basically. And then a few more bystanders had some water and just did the same...
“It was quite clear that, whatever substance it was, it was burning her quite badly. So throwing the water was I guess probably soothing it a little bit but it wasn't really doing much, I guess, because she was still, you know, sort of screaming like ’I can't see’.”
He added: “I believe my partner also spoke to the older daughter and she mentioned that she said that they didn't like the guy, so that obviously indicates something a bit deeper. As to what it is exactly, only god knows what. But they're obviously really shaken up.”
