A Kent butcher has rubbished claims Gen Z are turning up their nose at the quintessential British classic: the pork pie.

A recent poll from Tesco revealed that almost a third of Britons between the ages of 18 and 24 have not tried the iconic savoury treat - spurring on the supermarket's unique creation of a pork pie-inspired sandwich.

But co-owner of the Fuller’s Butchers and Farm Shop in Tunbridge Wells Steve Fuller insisted the picnic snack dating back to the 18th century was becoming all the more popular.

He told GB News: "We make our own pork pies. We sell about a 400 a week. To me, I'd say they're becoming more popular, actually.

"They're a great snack. You can take them on a picnic. You've got the nice crispy pastry and the nice juicy pork meat inside.

"So I think it's a great idea for Tesco's to bring them back and introduce them to the youngsters."

GB News stars Tom Harwood and Nana Akua tried their hand at the on-the-go treat.
