A pensioner couple have been banned from their local Aldi after "hurling abuse" at checkout staff.
Anthony and Regina Taylor, 75 and 65 respectively, were doing their monthly shop at their local Aldi in Bootle on October 4.
The couple say they have been shopping at the same store on Washington Parade since it first opened around a decade ago.
The Taylors prefer to bulk-buy, and claim they have always used the same system: placing one item of everything on the checkout and telling the employee how many in total they are buying.
But this time, when the checkout employee asked them to unload their entire trolley, Mr Taylor refused due to his osteoarthritis.
A dispute ensued between the couple and members of staff, and they were asked to leave the shop.
The 75-year-old said: "The member of staff demanded that we had to empty the trolley.
"She said she couldn't see what was in the trolley so I said she needed to go to Specsavers.

|"If she could not see what was in the trolley she needs glasses."
A spokesman for the German supermarket chain said it was standard policy for all items to be scanned at the checkout in order to ensure accuracy,
He also admitted that staff were not aware of the pensioner's condition, but ensured Aldi supports customers where they can with any additional assistance required.
The spokesman told the Liverpool Echo: "Our colleagues work hard to provide great customer service, and we don't tolerate any form of abusive behaviour in our stores.

"In line with our policy, all products must be scanned through the till at point of sale, however, our colleagues are always happy to assist customers who may need a little extra help."
Mr Taylor said: "I am very old school. I'm old enough to have been brought up in a very different era, an era where you do not swear in front of women."
However, the 75-year-old did admit to telling staff to "get your f*****g hands off me" during the heated exchange.
He claimed he was simply afraid of losing his balance.
Mr Taylor added: "I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but there I had put a pound in the trolley so I went back in and I asked for the pound back."
The couple have demanded an apology and to be reallowed back into the store.
However, it is understood that they remain banned from the supermarket.
