Economist warns of 'still reasonably high' supermarket costs as inflation reaches three year low

Economist Vicky Pryce has reacted to news that shop price inflation has hit its lowest point since 2021.

Speaking to GB News, Pryce said: "Costs are still reasonably high for supermarkets. That had to pay a lot more in terms of wages, still some transport costs and so on.

"But overall, I think we could have expected by now to see prices falling rather than just inflation falling. And that is something which I think we need to be looking at for the future as well."
