NatWest has confirmed plans to shut down 55 more branches this year in another blow to its customers.
High street banks, including NatWest, have carried out multiple bank branch closures in response to changing consumer habits and the rise of digital banking.
In the coming months, the banking giant will shut down 52 traditional locations on the high street.

Customers are being told to check if their local NatWest branch is shutting down
PAIn its confirmation of the closures, a spokesperson for the banking institution said more customers "than ever before" were using digital banking instead of branches.
The spokesperson said: "Over 80 per cent of our active current account holders now use our digital services and over 97 per cent of retail accounts with us are now opened online.
"Our customers appreciate the speed and convenience of digital banking for everyday transactions, and often, when it comes to making bigger, more complex decisions they value speaking to our skilled and experienced colleagues.
"We expect to invest over £20million in our network across the UK in 2025 to improve customer service, enhance the look and feel of our branches, and reduce the environmental impact of our buildings, as well as continuing to invest in shared solutions like the Post Office and Banking Hubs.
"We will also provide temporary support for transitions to our new network in selected locations through our 12-week Community Pop-Ups."
Research conducted by consumer champion Which? found that more than 6,000 bank branch closures have taken place in the UK since 2015.

Jenny Ross, Which? Money Editor, said: "Access to cash remains hugely important for a significant minority who use it to pay for everyday essentials and keep track of their spending.
"The raft of branch closures that have happened over recent years have had devastating consequences for lots of communities, often forcing people to travel great distances to visit a branch.
"Schemes introduced by the banking industry to protect these services, such as banking hubs, are a good start in plugging gaps left by closing physical branches, but they must be rolled out much more quickly if consumers are to feel their benefits.
"The Government must hold banks’ feet to the fire to ensure the commitments they’ve made to set up 350 hubs by 2029 are met - and should be prepared to review the target upwards if necessary."
